HB sums up the medal results of the first day at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo on August 25.

On the first day of the competition, the Ukrainian national team won eight awards: one gold, five silver medals and two bronze medals.

In the medal standings, Ukraine is in fifth place. Australia is in the lead, China is in the second position, RCC closes the top three.

Fencer Yevgenia Breus' bronze medal became the first medal for Ukraine at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

The first gold medal for Ukraine was won by swimmer Yelyzaveta Mereshko, who won the 50m freestyle.

Bronze in the same discipline went to another Ukrainian – 17-year-old Anna Gunter.

Swimmer Anton Kol won silver in the final 100m backstroke.

Another silver in wheelchair saber fencing was won by Artem Manko.
