Fans of George R.R.R. Martin and his epic fantasy stories are rejoicing as the first footage from the set of the Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon, has finally appeared on the official HBO website.

The start of filming became known on April 27, when trucks with the symbols of Warner Bros appeared in the British county of Cornwall. It was previously confirmed that House of the Dragon would begin filming in the UK in Spring 2021 at Warner Bros.'s Leavesden Studios.

The authors pleased film fans with just three shots. They include Reynira and Damon Targaryen, played by Matt Smith and Emma D'Arcy, Queen Alycent and Otto Hightower, played by Olivia Cooke and Rhys Ifans, and Corlis Velarion, played on screen by actor Steve Toussaint.

The House of the Dragon series will tell about the life of Westeros 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones. It will again be about the struggle for the Iron Throne, this time a civil war will break out between the ancestors of Daenerys – Princess Rhaenyra and Prince Aegon Targaryen. The script was based on the first volume of George Martin's book Fire and Blood.

The series' showrunners include Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik. The latter will direct the pilot episode. The music for the new series will again be written by Ramin Djawadi, the author of the title theme of Game of Thrones.
