Instagram launches live video broadcasts and introduces self-destructing photos
On Monday, Instagram introduced two major updates: live video feeds to Instagram Stories and self-destructing photos and videos to Instagram Direct.
The first innovation is quite expected; in 2016, only the lazy did not introduce live broadcasts. Live videos, according to the company's blog, can be no longer than one hour. So that subscribers do not miss the live broadcast, they will receive a notification when the streaming begins. Comments under the broadcast are optional.
To go live, just open the camera and tap on the “Start Live Video” button.
In Top Live users will be able to find all the popular broadcasts going on at the moment. There will be no option to save the video.
This feature will become available to all users within a few weeks.
With regard to disappearing photos and videos in Instagram Direct, they can now be sent to groups of users or individual friends. To do this, you need to touch the camera icon, take a picture or record a video, then click on the arrow in the bottom corner of the screen and select the friends you want to send a message to. Unlike normal Direct messages, these messages will self-destruct after being viewed, and even if they are copied or screenshotted, the sender will be able to know about it.
Disappearing photos you can view in the top bar of incoming messages. To do this, click on the airplane icon in the upper right corner of the screen. In groups, you can see all the replies and those who have not yet viewed the message. To send a quick reply just click on the user icon.
This feature has been rolled out all over the world since yesterday. We are waiting for new cases using Direct messages.
