The name was chosen symbolically, in honor of our city, the city of miners. Cinema Shakhtar was built in just 2 years. The architecture was chosen with columns, the shape of the windows was also atypical, the cinema building was the most architectural monument, which to this day is the property of our city. It had more modern film projection equipment. And, as a result, professional staff. There were special courses for projectionists, which were held in the city of Vladivostok. The projectionist was required to know safety precautions, to know all the features of film equipment, etc. Also, 2 professional artists worked in the staff, who were engaged in advertising, painted posters, posters, etc.
The cinema capacity was 900 seats. There were three halls in Shakhtar: the Central hall for 500 seats and two small so-called Pink and Blue halls for 200 seats each. In each hall of the Shakhtar cinema, 6 screenings were held per day. The first session started at 10 am, the last at 22.40 pm. There were always a lot of people. There were special film lectures, creative groups, which discussed the films repertoire of the cinema. At that time, in Vladivostok, they only dreamed of building an Okean cinema. 1966 – the Large Format Hall, which was called the Big opens. Its width was 22 m, and its height was 10 m. If an ordinary film for standard screens was 35 mm in size, then a film for a large-format screen was 70 mm. It was the first large-format hall in the region. The monopoly was kept by Shakhtar for 5 years.
At that time, people from all over the Primorsky Territory (Nakhodka, Ussuriysk, Vladivostok, etc.) came to the Shakhtar cinema, tickets were ordered in advance, the halls were overcrowded.
The cinema Shakhtar could serve 6,000 spectators per day. About 1,000,000 viewers a year, each of them visited the cinema 12-13 times a year, once a month. Here is such a statistic. Actors famous at that time came to the cinema: Ryazanov, Matveev, Krachkovskaya with children's films.
