Counted income from participation in the main European tournament.

Zenit was the worst in the Champions League of Russian clubs, but earned 35 million euros. More than Loko and Krasnodar

Pandemic Covid-19 caused serious damage to the football business, including UEFA And tournaments under the auspices of the organization, including the Champions League. However, this will practically not affect the income of the participants – the lost amounts will not be too significant.

Here is what the UEFA press release says on this subject: “The general influence of the Covid-19 on the income of clubs participating in European competitions is estimated at 458 million euros. This amount will be deducted from the total income of clubs with five equal shares-starting from the 2019/20 season to season-2023/24. Accordingly, 20% of this amount (92 million, according to the current assessment) will be deducted in the season-2020/21 in proportion between the Champions League and the Europa League. ”

The total amount of payments to the participants of European cups in the season-2020/21 will be 2.55 billion euros. Of these, 2.04 billion will receive participants in the Champions League and the match for the UEFA Super Cup, and 510 million euros will go to clubs performing in the Europa League.

92 million of 2.55 billion is a little less than 4%. Not such a big commission, given everything that happened in European football. If we talk specifically about the Champions League, it turns out that its participants will not receive 73.6 million in total, or approximately 3.6% of the amounts that were originally supposed.

Prize

Having dealt with this, we recall the scheme of paying prize clubs participating in the Champions League group tournament:

– Each of the participants in the group tournament receives 15.25 million euros;

– for each victory, another 2.7 million is paid;

– For each draw, 0.9 million relies;

– For the exit in the 1/8 finals, 9.5 million are relied.

Accordingly, at the end of the group stage, the indicators of Russian clubs are as follows:

– “Zenith” – 15.25 + 0.9 = 16.15 million;

– Lokomotiv – 15.25 + 0.9 + 0.9 + 0.9 = 17.95 million;

– “Krasnodar” – 15.25 + 2.7 + 0.9 + 0.9 = 19.75 million.

The rating of the decade

Participants in the Champions League group tournament are entitled to payments based on a special rating. The UEFA allocates 585 million euros to this.

Here is an excerpt from a press release: “These payments are based on a ranking designed for ten years. In addition to the points scored during this period, bonus points are awarded for victories in the Champions League of the UEFA / Champions Cup, the UEFA / Cup of UEFA, the Cup Cup and UEFA Super Bowl Cup. The amount of 585 million is divided into “shares of coefficients”, each share is 1.108 million. The club with the lowest position in the ranking will receive one share (1.108 million). The next position is two shares, and so on. The club with the highest rating will receive 32 shares (35.46 million). ”

Zenit of all participants in the group tournament takes 16th place in the ranking. So, he is supposed to be 17 shares – it is 18.836 million. We summarize with payments for sports results and get 34.986 million.

Lokomotiv is located in the ranking in 25th place, and it is supposed to be eight shares-this is 8.864 million. We summarize with payments for sports results and get 26.814 million.

“Krasnodar” followed Loko-he is the 26th in the ranking. Accordingly, he will get seven shares – this is 7.756 million. We summarize with payments for sports results (which can still improve due to the performance in the Europa League) and we get 27.506 million.

Marketing pool

Finally, another article of income is payments from a marketing pool. UEFA allocates 292 million euros to this.

Here is an excerpt from the press release: “This amount will be distributed according to the specific gravity of each TV tale, represented by the Champions League participants (starting from the group stage), and then broken between clubs representing this association.”

All relevant calculations will be made after the champions league – 2020/21. But now it is clear that the amounts will not be very large. The Russian television tier is, to put it mildly, not the most significant in Europe, and its specific gravity is quite small.

For example, according to the results of the 2018/19 season-the last, according to which there is complete data (the financial results of the Champions League-2019/20 UEFA has not yet officially summed up, this usually happens at the end of December), the weight of the Russian tellynka was determined at 1.685 million euros from allocated 292 million. That is, in 0.57% of the total amount. Even Greece and Switzerland went more. Then CSKA earned 721 thousand on a marketing pool, and Lokomotiv – 796 thousand. For comparison, four English clubs paid 68.64 million.

It is unlikely that now the order of numbers will change dramatically, and this piece will have to be divided into three. If one of the Russian clubs receives more than a million euros, it will already be good.

Result

Zenit is already 34.986 million euros. Plus, somewhere in the area of a million from a marketing pool. It turns out about 36 million. Of which, however, you still need to subtract approximately 3.6% of the “tax” by Covid – about 1.3 million euros. As a result, somewhere around 35 million.

Lokomotiv – already 26.814 million. Plus, payments from a marketing pool, minus deduction of losses per Covid-at the output you will get something about 27 million.

“Krasnodar” is already 27.506 million. From the marketing pool, the “bulls” will get very crumbs, so their income after subtracting losses for Covid will be comparable to get Lokomotiv, about 27 million.

True, Krasnodar will continue the fight in the Europa League in the spring and can still earn it there. The bonuses are as follows:

– access to the 1/8 finals – 1.1 million;

– access to the 1/4 finals – 1.5 million;

– access to the 1/2 finals – 2.4 million;

– access to the final – 4.5 million;

– The victory in the tournament is 4 million.

Thus, in the event of a victory in the Europa League, Krasnodar in addition to those 27 million, which brought him participation in the Champions League, will be able to add 13.5 million.
