Officially: Sebastien LEB will play for M-Sport on Monte Carlo rally

The nine-time world champion in rally Sebastien Lob will start the start of the 2022 season in the WRC. The 47-year-old French racer will perform Monte Carlo rally as part of the M-Sport team.

For the past few months, the WRC legend has actively tested the Puma Rally1 car, but in every possible way left answers to questions about the possible return to the rally, albeit not for the full schedule. And only now, a month before the start, the LEB and the Malcolm Wilson team announced the conclusion of the agreement. So far, it is only about participating in the Monte Carlo rally, which will be the first in the history of hybrid machines in the World Rally Championship.

“It was very interesting to test new technologies in action,” LEB told about the tests with M-SPORT. – According to the sensations, this technique is similar to the 2017 WRC machines, with the exception of the hybrid system. And, frankly, I am impressed by how well a balanced and powerful machine is. I like it.

Sebastien Lyob completed his career in the WRC in the full schedule in 2012. But since then, he has repeatedly been starting to a start at separate stages driving Citroen and Hyundai cars. The last time he participated in the Russian rally in September 2020, finishing the third then.

Monte Carlo rally will be held from January 20 to January 23, i.e. Just a week after Dakar, where the LEB will perform as part of the Bahrain Raid Xtreme Team team.
